POSITION TITLE: Planner, Production & Sourcing
REPORTS TO: Production & Sourcing Manager
SUPERVISES: Production Coordinator and/or Production Assistant
Responsible for coordinating the development and execution of products from design intent through bulk production. Works under general direction and independently handles moderately complex issues and product responsibilities.
-Act as point person with global cross functional partners throughout the development and production process to communicate changes in a timely manner, highlight the risk/opportunity to the business when significant decisions/changes have been made that will place production outside the Go/No Go parameters
-Participate in Hiring, coaching and developing a quality team; this includes succession planning and regular performance reviews to address personal growth and development needed to foster a productive, focused team
-Ownership of your category/lifestyle including influencing cross-functional partners to meet department volume and profit goals, partnering cross-functionally to engineer cost, profit and initial mark-up to meet targeted margins and design intent
-Communication and clarity of sourcing strategy that meets pre production/production needs of the department.
-Clear communication on vendor or mill challenges that could effect future strategy.
-Understand financial scope of a Merchandise area to assist in the development and support of a vendor strategy that enables the growth of the PINK brand.
-With guidance from next level manager, own the costing process, including the negotiation and management of costs with direct reports to meet internal business IMU and AUC goals; understand factors driving costs and alternatives to reduce costs; recommend cost efficiencies based on consistent production, boat vs. air and value added distribution methods
-Understand and challenge vendor lead times to facilitate the shortest decision framework while maximizing quality and 'on time' deliveries; utilize understanding of interim approval dates throughout the production process to drive 'on time' delivery with support of next level manager
-Actively participate in production meetings with cross functional partners, and as needed with the vendors and regional offices, to ensure all brand and production needs are met, that production is placed in approved and appropriate factories and deliveries are scheduled to ship on time.
-Support next level manager in developing production and capacity projections, by Merchandise area and review with vendors
-Own the liability, including the reporting and working with regions on consistently capturing decrements and ownership.
-Own appropriate WIPS preparation and attendance with direct reports and calling out issues, escalating critical risk, etc.
-Responsible for collecting, consolidating and reporting of time & action schedules and issues; working with Planner/Sr. Planner on resolution as appropriate
-Develop, own and communicate greige strategy and business
-Bachelor's Degree in Retail Merchandising, Supply Chain/Logistics or related field; or equivalent work experience
-Minimum of 5 years related experience with time in 2 or more categories, preferably in a retail production & sourcing environment
-Knowledge and experience with overseas vendors (preferably Far East), to include at least one factory visit experience
-Working knowledge of bulk garment production process
-Understanding of garment cost engineering methods
-Solid PC skills; intermediate to advanced Excel skills required
-Previous management or supervisory experience a plus
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Demonstrated influencing and negotiation skills
-Effective time management, scheduling, problem solving & organizational skills
-Detail oriented with strong multi-tasking skills
-Ability to work well with ambiguity, and long-distance cross-functional teams (independent - multiple locations)
-Ability to work in a team environment and partner cross functionally.
-Monthly travel to NY office required with additional trips if necessary to support the business.
