Support role for all aspects of the income tax audit function, including appeals and litigation, of L Brands, Inc. & Subsidiaries. This position reports to the Manager, Tax Controversy.
-Actively partner with the tax planning and compliance team to understand L Brands' tax structures, tax positions, risks and exposures
-Research income tax audit issues and review state-prepared income tax audit schedules and assessments
-Manage the state audit information request (IDR) database and responses
-Summarize and communicate audit issues and exposure to the Tax Accounting and Tax Planning team
-Collaborate with the income tax compliance team to provide updates and guidance in regard to ongoing and completed audit inquiries, issues and results
-Perform scenario analysis and summarize and communicate the results to Senior Management in order to assist in the determination of strategies to resolve contested audit issues
-Assist in delivering recommendations with respect to audits and appeals
-Support the management of outside consultants and legal counsel with audits, protests and appeals
-Update and/or prepare state & local income tax audit summary documentation on a monthly, quarterly or as delegated basis
-Update documentation as required by L Brands- internal and external auditors for the state & local income tax audit function
-Review state income tax apportionment, state adjustments and tax returns as required
-Support the calculation and documentation of state uncertain tax positions (FIN48)
-Assist the Transfer Pricing Manager with special projects such as BEPS implementation, IRS audit support, and planning opportunities
-Provide basic research support to the federal and international income tax planning functions and assist with ad hoc projects
-Participate in other special tax projects as directed or desired
-Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
-CPA certificate preferred
-MST or MBA is a plus
-Minimum of 3 - 7 years experience in corporate income taxation is required. Federal and multi-state compliance experience is highly preferred.
-Experience in public accounting is highly preferred
-Experience in federal, state & local audits, appeals and litigation is preferred
-Excellent written and oral communication skills are required
-High level of insight and analytical skills are necessary
-Experience with automated tax systems (OneSource, GoSystem or CorpTax), database management systems and web-based research applications (Checkpoint, CCH) are required
-Extensive experience with Microsoft software especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint is expected
